INTRODUCTION

	This little book of remembrances of Vera is for her friends.
It is for people who knew her and wished they knew her better and
hoped to expand their friendship when
she returned from the expedition that had been taking so much of
her time in the last two years.
Even I, her husband, find myself in that category - wishing I
knew her yet better, and regretting the self-made barriers
that postponed it into the never-to-happen future.
